Just recently, I was thinking about my communication style. Oddly enough, it’s a topic that came up during one of my Claude.ai sessions.

Referencing my use of the term acoustic when referring to my bicycles that do not have an electric motor. This is how I try to maintain clarity in my communications and help with understanding. I’m rarely asked to repeat myself because anyone doesn’t understand the topic of the conversation.
I don’t like to repeat myself and I really like everything to be correct. The specificity is what drives clarity. Specifics even when they aren’t necessary, like the term acoustic bike, adds the extra level of clarity that bike alone does not provide. You know I used a bike without a motor when I use the term acoustic, even though that is a non-standard term.
Of course, this topic came about because we were chatting about Acoustic panels, which lead to black pipe, which of course led to curtain rods which landed me on communication theory. Isn’t that how it works for you? Another great reason for the clarity; it can help explain the connections.
For our example above, black pipe is the construction material I’m going to be using to creating a studio space in my office, on which I will need to hang curtains, so that I could discuss the way I communicate. I’m pretty sure there is a clinical term for this, to explain the crazy way my mind works.
I just call it Tuesday.
