Maybe a little recession wouldn’t be so bad?

I’m processing video on the MacBook right now. In case anyone asks, yes it does take a very long time.

Anyway.

I was driving to the office today listening to the news about oil hitting $100 a barrel for the first time ever, the housing market in a slump and everyone walking away from their homes, would a little recession right now be such a bad thing?

I’m no economist. But I know what the R word does to people. Do you?

It makes them scared. Scared that the money they have now will all be gone in a month and they won’t have the means to replace it. It also keeps them home and out of their giant SUVs. It keeps them from spending money on stuff they don’t really need.

I know, in the short term, recession is bad. Business hates it. Workers hate it. Everyone hates it. But as a mild mid course correction? I just don’t think it would be that bad.

But, like I said, I’m not an economist.

  1. Most everyone I know seems unaffected by this recession, we all read about in the papers but other than that I can still pay my mortgage, buy gas, food etc. I’m sure there are people suffering but mostly I think it’s media-led fear-mongering.
