a new PC for me

More like finally a new PC for me!

My current PC has served me very well for the last 4 years, but it’s getting tired. Running Win2K and it takes about 10 minutes to fully boot, won’t burn CD’s and main hard drive (10GB Samsung) is pushing 6 years old. It’s not that it’s a pile of crap, it’s just tired and ready to retire or move into pulling fileserver duty.

Saturday I cruise out to the local Indian Gaming megaresort to kill an hour and waste $40 playing games. But, instead of being -$40 for the day, I was +$600! Sorry, but it wasn’t Mr. Rucky to hook me up, but a $1 slot machine.

So, I took $500 to Microcenter and picked up One of these, plus a Belkin FireWire card and a spiffy nVidia 128MB Video Card. Altogether with tax cost less than $900, minus the $500 contribution by the tribe means less than $400 for db! We love that. The only thing I don’t like about the new one is that it is running WinXP Home instead of Pro. I’ll do the up-g sometime after the first of the year.

So, now I get to go through the hassle of moving everything over. Need to spend some time today over at the Mozilla T-Bird forums to try and figure out how to move the emails to the new PC.

I should be back in a few days 😀
