The Sunday Post #105: Where it Started

Recently, I was turned on to a pretty keen app for the mac by Jason. It will let you download all of you flickr photos. Pretty keen, right? Not only will it let you download them all, it will let you download only those photos not in sets. Brilliant!

Photography over the years

From what I can tell, I started my Flickr account way back in 2005. I didn’t even own a digital camera at the time, but was using it to share photos that I took with my Motorola Razr and LG Env. Here comes the magic. Click any of the collages for a larger version.

Adding 1 more to the Portfolio

Yet another WordPress site to add to my list of WordPress sites that I have built. This time, for the A MINI Vacation in Vegas group. It might look a little familiar since it’s based on the theme for the Sin City MINI Club site, but this one has a few extra features.

First up, it has full Twitter integration. I have also connected their Twitter to the corresponding Facebook. The contact forms on this site also have the ability to capture the form data to be used later for mailing items or extracting email addresses.

I’m going to be taking this on more as an ongoing project basis as well. I think that with a little more tweaking and a bit more promotion, the combination of WordPress, Twitter and Facebook will be a great tool for keeping the attendees up-to-date while the event is happening. Stay tuned for details.

And, if you are looking for some cool WordPress goodness, let me know. The Arizona offices are wide open and ready for business!

Let’s get this out of the way.

I’ve been busy over on the other side lately, so be sure you are following along over there. There is some very cool stuff coming in the next month and change that is MINI related and I’m pretty excited about all of it.

I’m also going to making some changes (again) to this site. No matter how hard I try, no matter how many resumes I send out, I just can’t seem to make anything happen. So it’s time to take off on my own and try to generate some income anyway possible. I need a website that reflects that.

What does that mean to you? I’m not sure yet. Of course it will be cool, but that might mean that I move my more ‘personal’ blog posts over w(t)f and keep this more technical, which I’ve already started.

Anyway, go to the MINI sites and see what’s happening. If you are in SoCal, stop by and say hi when I’m at MINI of Ontario or catch me at AMVIV with almost the entire WRR crew.

Viddler in HD?

From the Viddler blog.

On Viddler we currently re-encode videos uploaded in all formats except .FLV (Flash Video). As you know, the re-encoded files look amazing, but they might not be up to par with the actual file you uploaded. Alas, if you upload a .FLV file format it will display on Viddler exactly as it did on your computer. Huzzah!

Click through to find out how. If you still have VisualHub, then it’s a snap. But, the big question is, does it work? Check it.

That was exported from iMovie ’09 to 720p (h.264) then run through the flv converter in VH. Bonus is the compression. Original video is 354.4MB. converted is only 72.5.

While I’m still going to be hosting the bulk of my video at Whiteroof.tv, it’s nice to know that I have another option that is not YouTube.

The last from AMVIV, for now.
