I’ve also made a few minor changes around here to make navigating the posts a little easier. You will notice there is now next and previous links on each post. Great way to waste some time if you ever need too.

Finally, check out the front page where you can see excerpts from the last 2 posts and the latest video. Remember, I can do this for you too! All you have to do is ask.

More changes will be coming in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out!

It started off with a bunch of spammers and this guy. Then a few more readers came along. The long way too, usually following the link to donburnside.com that adorns the bottom of many pages I create. This brought the readership total up to about 7.

Then I started the show. about another 10 of you took the trouble to find this. Thanks!

Then I did the theme change. Including links to all of my sites on all of my sites. Recipe posts at flickr brought in some n00bs too. And the videos at Viddler.

After all of this, you, the wtf reader, are now about 1200 strong! Yes, holy crap indeed.

Now, in comparison, you are only about 1/2 as many as the MINI site. But that site cheats. It gets mentioned in the show. It’s linked up at MF among other places. It gets better search refs too, and has a higher google ranking. For the most part, it’s been fairly organic.

Now, to do the same with w(t)f.

You might see a few minor changes around the site. I’ve added tags (since all the kids are doing it). And, I’m going to be a keyword whore. But only for the next month. But I’m not going to do any overt promotion short of the occassional link on twitter. But only if I think it’s an awesome post. Remember, I hate spam worse than you do.

Right now you are on track to be 1500 strong this month. I want to see if my tweaks and whatnot can increase that by at least 500 for the month of June. While I’m not going to ask for your help, if you do come across a post that you think is worthy of sharing, please feel free to do so. Time to bring w(t)f out of the closet and into prime time.

Started to upload, but I got quota errors. Great. Had to create a new account and log a ticket. But it’s done.

Then, got about 1/2 way through tomorrows post, wanted to upload a photo but I couldn’t. The Viddler Plug-in kinda breaks it (I dropped them a line about it already too).

Everything done with transmit. I wasn’t feeling it before I discovered the duplicate command on the remote server. How cool is that? That’s as good as Windows copy-in-place feature. I was able to easily make a backup of the wp-content dir before starting the upload. Perhaps I will give this Transmit a few more days.

All of this happened after I spent the entire day on the phone and doing actually work. Odd since I’m not really supposed to be working either. Still, 1 8 hour day of billing has been logged on my sheet.

During this day, I spent way more time in Windows via VNC and dial-up connections than should be allowed by law. I worked very hard to get VPN working and prefer to use Remote Desktop wherever possible (that way, I don’t have to start VM). But there isn’t RD on Windows 2000 and I do not have, nor do I want, regular phone service at the house.

I think I’m going out to Arizona for a few days next week to do some work at a resort that is having problems with their reservation system. Trying to decide if I should drive the 600 miles (one way) or fly into Phoenix and rent a car. If flight+car is less than $200, I might go that way. The place is pretty remote, so the last place I want to take the MINI with bad suspension is on crappy dirt roads.

Trying to get back to going to the gym every other day. Actually, I would like to do Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, but I’ve been falling short. I’ve been using the ball at home, which is helping, but I’m not able to do the amount of cardio I want to do. The last week I’ve been back on track, I just hope it can continue.

Wondering about the video hour. Numbers are dropping off a bit (yes, I check). That means either you have gotten busy or lost interest. I only started doing them to get used to seeing myself on the screen. What say you? Keep going or stop? I don’t think I’ll stop doing video, maybe just that one (or stop posting it here).

I opened Google reader tonight and I have over 1K unread articles. I scanned through and read the ones I wanted to, but I think some trimming might be in order.

My trip to Florida is booked. I have to change planes, twice. One of them has propellors. I’m not pleased. I do, however, get to drive an R56 MC to Boston though with the Todd’s, so I’m a bit stoked about that. Be sure to check the route. If you are nearby one of the stops, I’d love to meet you (that includes you CJ, if you can manage a drive to Savannah).

I guess that’s it. Now, on to emails! W00t!

My current system is pretty antiquated, using a combination of spreadsheets and handwritten notes. I know, how 19th century!

I’ve tried some time/billing software but most of it is complicated, too expensive or doesn’t work in a manner that suits my needs.

Is there a time/billing program out there, Windows or Mac, that you have used that you like? And not one of those online services either.

You know, just leave a note below. Links are extremely helpful too. I’ll keep an eye on the comment queue to make sure everything gets through.

• I’ve made 3 episodes of the w(t)f podcast. And then deleted them.
• I have thoughts about the MacBook Air. Check out the show to hear it.
• Because Verizon doesn’t know how to take my money, I’ve gone without TV for the last 2 weeks. Other than not having Speed Channel, I don’t think we’ve really missed it.
• If you watch my del.icio.us feed, you probably have noticed 3 houses for rent in my area. I look at one Friday. I’m actually a little excited.
• I need to carry my camera more often. I think I might just start leaving it in the MINI
• Speaking of, it’s really making me nervous depending on a car with 180K miles. I need a serious influx of cash!
• I would have a very difficult time, based on name alone, taking President Huckabee serious. That’s tragic
• $800 won’t help. Why can’t people look more long term?
• Teh lad aced all but 1 final (math, got a B). I really hope his report card doesn’t suck.
• The rents are coming back this weekend. I really need to move, sooner than later. I’m seriously in their way and it’s causing me guilt.

I was a little off this week. I started to notice a certain technical bent in my posts of late, and I’ve been trying to find something else to post about, just to break things up.

Sure, I could have posted a rant too, but why be so negative? I was looking for funny. No dice. And trust me, it was not for my lack of trying.

You would think I would have something good to post right? I mean, it rained. In SoCal. I know I know, that’s just crazy talk you say. But for reals, it rained. I’m sure the news channels were on full on storm watch too, but I haven’t turned to TV on all weekend, so I wouldn’t know. Also decided to not do too much driving to avoid the idiots that totally freak out because a little bit of water gets on the ground.

I have a very busy month coming up. Car Wash Convention in 2 weeks (yes, I’m taking my camera this time) followed by a trip out to Mom and Dad’s for some way overdue maintenance. Then, back to Vegas again for SEMA. Yes, Paul (and you too Josh ), with my camera. Yes, there will be booth babe shots. Don’t worry, I’ll totally hook you guys up. Heck, I’ll even look for a bit of beefcake for the ladies.

Throw in some Street Tuner Challenge stuff, maybe a magazine shoot and a live show at WRR on October 4th (tip: get you a free account at TalkShoe) and finally the Portable Media Expo next week.

So, yea, I’ll be pretty busy. But don’t worry, know that I have internet with my not-an-iPhone phone, I’ll be able to post goodness from just about all of these events, including photos. So keep an eye out!

The last theme was ok, but the way it handled the archives really bothered me. And the tiny font size. And, not feeling like changing it much, I’ve switched.
