Leopard Notes
Just a few things I need to jot down.
- Before Josh totally freaks out, I kinda dig the translucent menu bar.
- The dock on the left works as good, if not better, than it did before
- Spaces + VMWare Fusion = teh aWeSoMe!1!
- As smokin’ fast as Safari is under Leopard, I’m going crazy without Firefox. Specifically:
- Lack of a lower status bar. Well, it’s there, sometimes. Seemingly at random.
- The inability to click once in the address bar to select the entire address. Trippple clicking doesn’t work for me
- I want all links that would otherwise open in a new window to open in a new tab. I don’t care where they come from and I don’t want to have to remember to ctrl-click the links
- I need my extensions!
- Faster. I don’t know how or why or where, but it sure feels faster.
- Network panel in sys preferences is much better. And, it makes sense
- The download dir and dock icon/shortcut are handy. Wonder if I can use them in FF (I’m pretty sure I can)
- The docs doc icon/shortcut seems ok. Fans are ok too, but I have so much stuff it doesn’t really work for me
- Battery life seems to be maybe a little bit better. Not sure 100% yet.
- Mail.app. I still don’t think I like it. I’ve been playing with it a bit more with Gmail’s IMAP support and it seems, um, weird. I keep going back in hopes that I will get used to it.
- iCal. I finally figured out how to add an even in iCal! Woohoo!
- Back to spaces. Using it is much like expose. There is movement in the changes from one space to another. I’m quite surprised there isn’t a WHOOSH! sound too. It can be a little confusing, so plan accordingly. I’m on my 2nd rev of setting it up and I still don’t have it quite right
added the next day
- iCal dock icon showing the current date. I was always used to hovering over the clock for the date in Windows. This is much better, and better than on Tiger for sure
Overall, diggin’. It.
