How would you change iTunes

Posted in Music — by Don on 03/18/05

I was just reading this over at apple.weblogsinc.com and they asked their readers what they would to do change it.

As I read through the 80+ responses, I noticed a few things:

  • Almost everything listed I can already do in Music Match
  • Nobody mentioned anything about the store interface

As I’ve mentioned in the past, the only thing I use iTunes for is to purchase songs and burn those songs to CD. I do everything else in MusicMatch. It has better volume leveling, makes better sounding comp discs and has a pretty kick ass library.

As for iTunes changes?

  • Tabbed store browsing
  • – This would be awesome when going through iMixes especially
  • Some kind of favorites saving
  • – For when you find something cool, but aren’t going to buy it right now
  • Lyrics and/or cover art
  • -Make it more like an actual CD purchase

That’s mine, what’s yours?

You do get cover art in iTunes, it’s just an underused feature. Under the playlist pane there’s a button, a square with a black top and an upside-down triangle. Push that and it opens the artwork pane, with album art from all the songs you d/l. There are lots of programs/haxies on Mac that make use of artwork too, but your Windows mileage may vary.
