So, yea.
Not sure what I did, but I caused the macbook to go pear shaped. Something about a kernel panic and fsck not being able to run. All bad as far as I can tell. Oh yea, running real slow too.
Thanks to Josh for the assist in trouble shooting and google-ing the errors.
So it is known, in the 12 years I’ve had PC’s, I have never had to do this within the first 2 weeks of either owning or installing a new drive. Even Win95 went longer before needing a reinstall. I’m just sayin’.
So, the Sunday Post might be a little late. Depends on how long the re-install takes.

Wow that’s rather impressive
From installing a new bigger HDD?
ouch. My MBP went pear shaped right after my conference, thankfully after, and not before or during.
They’re better than PC’s but not perfect

Hadn’t got to the HDD install yet.
I ran more hardware tests on Saturday. tomorrow it goes into the shop. Gave error codes that, from searching, said a new logic board is probably in order.
So I’m stuck using the pc for the week and change. Oh well.

wow, thats bad luck. Maybe I should cancel my order!
I do think most Mac problems can be fixed using some good old fashioned command line work but Apple doesn’t want people messing about with that and spoiling the u/i experience.

Yeah Paul’s right. A little UNIX-y goodness can fix most things, but not a faulty logic board, unfortunately. Someday though… You’ll be able to bit torrent new hardware…
