New tools for the kitchen

And, might I say, it’s about time.

Went to the local Kohl’s today. HUGE sale on, among other things, Henckle knives. I must admit, right here, right now, that my knife drawer is embarrassing. I have an old Henckle 6″ chefs knife that I’ve been using for about 15 years that recently had the tip break off, plus a nice serrated knife I picked up at Smart and Final. That, and a bunch of others that, really, I should just throw in the trash.

Anyway, today I picked up the following: 5-in. Santoku Knife: Hollow Edge

It’s a little on the light side, but man it chops great!

And: 8-in. Chef’s Knife

A proper chef’s knife. Great weight, nicely balanced. If you need an all-around kick ass knife, this is the one to get.

Why Henckle? I’ve always liked them. Sure they are spendy (these 2 cost me right about $90), but for the money, I don’t think you can beat ‘em!

Now I just have to re-learn how to use sharp knives again. Watch for more recipes I’m sure!
