Can someone please take a moment to explain to me the benefits of blocking your telephone number from caller ID services? It seems like voodoo and tin-foil hat type stuff to me, but what do I know.
There are only 3 reasons why I don’t answer my phone.
- I’m on another call BTW…don’t keep calling me when I send you to voicemail unless you or someone very close to you is either dead or dying.
- I’m driving I can not find a head set that works while I’m driving. Might have something to do with the fact that the MINI is almost as lound as a NASCAR on the highway. Regardless, I’ve taken to not talking on my phone when I’m driving.
- The number shows up on my display as BLOCKED or RESTRICTED. What are you hiding from? Why don’t you want me to have your telephone number? Are you afraid I might call you back?
So, if you are one that blocks your number during outbound calls, fill me in here. Seems pretty stupid to me.

I’ve got to agree with you on that one. We have Anonymous Call Rejection turned on on our phone service. If someone calls with a blocked number, they get a pre-recorded message telling them they have to unblock it for their call to go through. Check with your phone company, this is usually a free service if you have caller ID. I’m not sure if it’s available on cell phones or not, but it’s worth a call to check.

I hate telephones. Hate them like death could be on the other line. The only time I answer (and even then, not a promise) is if I know the number. If it comes up as anything else, not getting answered. Numbers I don’t know, I might answer if I’m expecting a call, but BLOCKED, or UNKNOWN, etc. not happenin’
I see it much like the door. i don’t open the door if I can’t see who’s knocking. I don’t answer the phone if I don’t know who’s calling… maybe it IS death… hell no!
