I know there was a tweet earlier in the week kinda hinting at this, so I figured that I should qualify it with a post.
Anyway…
I’m a huge fan of twitter, really I am! I mean, so much so that I’m pretty sure a big reason why some of you are using it is because I couldn’t shut up about it. It’s fast, convenient and kinda fun.
Oh wait, convenient?
Yea, not so much as of late. Between the popularity explosion that ensued during and after SXSW and the fact that IM hasn’t been available consistently for over a month has something to do with it.
Sure, I tried twitterific. What a steaming pile of crap that is. Never updated, my posts wouldn’t go thru and I rarely got any updates. I am reminded of blogger back in the day when I use this thing (google “blogger ate my post” to see what I mean).
This is why I started using Twitter in the first place. I could do it right from my IM client in about 15 seconds or less. No fuss, no muss. But now, to have to go to the site and then post? No, I don’t think so. I already have 6 blogs for that, why would I want to take on another?
If they can get the IM thing fixed, then maybe I’ll stick around a little while longer until it completely bores me. If not, I’m gone by the end of the week.
Too bad really. I’m not bored with it yet.
Or something neat about getting my passport.
Most everyone knows that to actually get a passport, you need to provide two pieces of identification, one of them being an official stamped certified copy of your birth certificate.
For most of you, this is a single page document that shows your date and time of birth, your mother and father and other information.
One thing that most of you don’t know is the difference between my Dad and my father. He was a bit of a fuck up from what I have heard. Dad came around when I was 5 and that was that. Well, it wasn’t quite that easy, but that is best left to many many more posts or therapists sessions, if I decided I needed to do that kind of thing.
There is a Woof-off happening.
That is all.
If you knew this earlier, shame on your for not letting me know. Sheesh.
Oh, nothing major, just a new external mac-style keyboard for my desk.
In my effort to use the Mac as much as possible, I’m rigging it to also be my computer when I’m home.
As much as I like the keyboard and screen on the MacBook, for long term use they just aren’t that great. The screen is a bit on the small side and the so is the keyboard.
Plus there is the almost brand new 20″ widescreen display I picked up a few months ago. Yes, the MacBook’s video card can drive a 20″ ViewSonic widescreen display at 1680×1050 in case you were wondering. Yes, even with a movie or tv show from iTMS.
While at my favorite computer store, I also picked up a new belkin USB hub, since one of my other complaints about the MB is it’s complete lack of them. C’mon, only 2? Don’t you people print or use external mice AND want to plug in the iPod? I’m just sayin’.
I know it’s asking a lot for a portable computer, but I think this will work out just fine.
Now, to get used to the new keyboard. It’s a Kingston and very clicky. I’ll live with it for a week or so and see what I think. Worse case is I have to take it back, which gives me an excuse to go back to Microcenter, which I need to do anyway to procure a second power adapter for those days, much like today, when I leave in a rush to pick the lad up from school and leave it in the office! DOH!
I’ve been eluding to it for the last few weeks now. Being all secretive and junk. I’m sure it’s been driving you crazy.
What have I been hiding? Well friends, I’m glad you asked.
Some of you remember last summer when MINIUSA held a little event called MINI Takes the States (yes, MINI, not MINIs). Over at the show, we provided some pretty good coverage. At least something every day during the event, with some days having multiple audio posts.
All that coverage caught the attention of MINI. No, not MINIUSA (they already were lovin’ the coverage). This would be MINI corporate in Munich. Yes, Germany.
They liked our coverage so much in fact that they have asked Whiteroofradio to be the official podcast of the upcoming MINI United Event at the end of June.
Whiteroofradio is going to Amsterdam baby! To say we are excited would be a minor understatement.
We will be providing updates throughout the event, both audio and words (maybe some video) at Whiteroofradio.com and Motoringfile.com. Much the same as we did during MTTS, with updates going online as they happen, not like AMVIV where we posted everything days after.
So, now you know why I needed my passport. The Mac? Just in case something went wrong, I thought it best that we all had machines at least from the same manufacturer. I mean, c’mon, Todd and Gabe totin’ Mac’s and me with a Dell? Just wouldn’t look right.
Keep an eye on MINIUnited.com for more stuff coming.
