Celebrities in the news

Ok, some points that I feel must be made.

  1. I do not care that Mel Gibson got a DUI.

Really, I don’t. But, if you want to tell me when when of the local teachers does, or perhaps a bigshot doctor, then by all means.

  1. I do not care that Mel Gibson has had problems with alcohol most of his life.

Honestly. Rehab. Call your mom. Do something.

  1. I do not care that Mel Gibson cussed out the police officer

Hello? Wasn’t he getting arrested for DUI? Don’t those too go hand in hand at least 60% of the time?

The first one that can tell me why this is news won’t win anything from me since the swag closet is empty, but everyone reads the comments, so that has to be worth something. Oh yea, saying ’cause he is a celebrity’ ISN’T a reason.

That is all.

Draw Tippy…

Can you believe I actually won something? Yea, me neither.

Not sure if you remember or not, but last week there was a bit of an outage on Flickr. Right in the middle of the day and it last about an hour, maybe a little longer.

They provided a blank template unto which they requested users get creative, snap a pic and upload once service was restored. They would then sift through the entries (that were correctly tagged,of course) and select 1 that would win a pro account upgrade for a year. WOW!

Well, they ended up getting more entries that they thought, so instead only picking 1 winner, they picked a bunch and I was one of them. It must have been a random drawing or something because this:

Isn’t that great. But it did win me 3 months worth of pro service at flickr for FREE! WooT!

You can see some way more creative entries here. Don’t come back and laugh tho, that will just make me feel bad.

Technical difficulty

What a rough month or so, technically, it has been.

First, there was the wholesale crash of the podcast site that I am still trying to recover from.

Then, the PC starts acting up. It started with a brown out or 2 and my 10 year old 19″ CRT. For those of you that don’t understand that, it was a HUGE monitor that weighed in at about 60lbs. Work horse of a unit I’ll have you know with great image quality. But, like I said, it started getting a bit dodgy.

So I replace it with a brand new 20″ LCD widescreen from Viewsonic (model: VA2012wb, $299 @ Costco). I can say I’m diggin’ it. bright, great color, plenty fast for my needs (8ms response time). I even upgraded my video card, but you’ll have to continue reading after the jump ;) (Read on…)
