parking

I have many other things to deal with right now, but first, a quick rant about the parking situation at my office.

They just completely repaved and restriped the lot. Before, it was faded and full of compact spaces that nobody could fit in. Parking was a disaster, to say the least.

Now, it’s chock full of fresh asphalt goodness and fresh stripes.

But parking still sucks!

Before: I would have to squeeze inbetween 2 SUV’s and barely have enough room to open my door.

After: I still barely squeeze between 2 cars and have a rough time opening my door.

It’s not the lot, it’s the parking.

Ok people, it’s not that tough. Your buddy db is here to help!

When parking in a striped parking lot, the stripes work best when you treat them as guides. Between which you park your car. Not on the stripes. Not on the other side of the stripe for your space. No. Between the stripes for the space you picked.

There are 68 parking spaces in this lot. I actually checked this morning and there were 14 cars that were incorrectly parked.

All it takes is 1 to mess it up for everyone else. So pay attention, ok? Sheesh.

3 F’s + 1 B = Pass?

Ok, maybe this is the new math at work, but the above is, as far as I know, the lads grades for the 8th grade.

Then, in the mail this week comes an advancement certificate saying he will, indeed, be a freshman in high school next year.

I don’t get it. Way to set the kids up for success!

It’s not that I tried to hold him back, because I did. The school frowns on it because they see it as punishment. PUNISHMENT? Then what would you call rewarding someone for failing?

I know out here in the ‘real world’, if I were to fail at my job, I would get fired. If I failed to obey laws, I would go to jail. But, in the inner santum of the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, failing must mean it’s ok to pass Go and collect your $200 thankyouverymuch.

Maddening. Absolutely. Maddening.

a day of travel, part IV – final

I was going to post from Denver, but can you belive I had more word to do? Bummer no free wifi there. Oh well, since I worked, it means billable time, so that will cover that.

Flight out of Denver to KC kinda sucked. It was a pretty rough ride out of Denver, which I presume is kinda normal based on the way the pilot was talking. Then, flying into KC it was about 95 degrees, which made the landing like riding a roller coaster. Again, not terribly fun, but it would appear I’m no worse for wear.

Went to grab my bad from the baggage carosel. Todd was already there to pick me up, so we just chatted and watched. And watched. And watched. Yea, my bags were lost. Figures that the only airline (United) that uses the ’state-of-the-art’ baggage system at DIY looses my luggage. Not just mine, but the luggage of about 6 other people. Actually, to tell the truth, my luggage wasn’t lost, but put on a flight that landed about 2 hours after mine did. At least they delivered it to me. Too bad it was 7 hours after I landed. Oh well.

That’s it. I’m in KC, leaving for St. Louis tomorrow sometime and I’ll be back next Monday.

Oh yea, if you comment on Saturday, you know the magic words, right? If you have forgotten, check the bottom of this post for a hint. ;)

a day of travel, part III

This from the plane earlier…

A day of travel, III This time from the plane. Scored a great seat too! 9F for those of you that must know. Only 2 rows and a door from those snobs in 1st class. Yea, who needs them.

Of course, there isn’t any wifi on this plane, but I did have access to the ‘NETGEAR’ network. No, I didn’t connect to check their iTunes collection or see what porn they have. Yes I did turn my radio off so nobody could see mine ;)

A little bit of Frank playing on the shuffle right now. Which song? Fly me to the moon, of course.

Speaking of music, you should should cruise over and check out the The Clintons. Out of Bosman, Montana. A mix between Fountains of Wayne and BNL. Clever lyrics and great music. You should check them out. No really.

Ok, this post at 37,000 is done. More from Denver. Well, it will look like 2 at a time, but that’s how that goes.
