Opportunities missed

This seems to happen to me all of the time. In fact, it happened to me tonight.

A close encounter with a pretty girl. I just sit there, don’t say a word. She leaves. 45 seconds later, I’m kicking myself for at least not being polite and saying hi or something.

I can be such an idiot.

Cold showers

So it appears that this is the week for your hounorable host (um, that’s me) to have plumbing problems.

First up, leaky garbage disposal. Well, it leaked until it feel off of the sink anyway. A quick phone call or three procured the parts and my way-handier-than-me brother-in-law came over to assist with the repairs. There is still some minor leakage, but nothing I can’t fix myself.

Next up, I’m sure you already have guessed, is a bad water heater. I try to take a shower and there isn’t any hot water. ugh. A quick check shows water leaking profusely from the tank top and sides. More phone calls determine that yes, the unit is bad.

When is the last time you took a cold shower?

I will tell you know that it sucks butt. No, wait, it blows dead bears. No, that’s not it either. It’s just wrong on every level. Cold showers are the work of the devil.

Hopefully I can replace the unit tonight with again an assist from the handier-than-me brother-in-law.

A good rant

Now I know why the three of you that aren’t spamming my logs keep coming back.

It’s the rants.

Recently, I have had the chance to be on the receiving end of a great rant by my brother-in-law. As it turns out, he works construction and the kangaroo rat has caused him quite a bit of grief over the years. Turns out this furry little seed eater is protected and the hippies and tree huggers make it a point to make sure that they can continue to live where they do and fuck like bunnies.

They are still protected, eventhough, according to bro-in-law, there are ‘millions’ of them. He went off for at least 20 minutes on the little bastards and I couldn’t stop laughing. Sure, I know it wrong to laugh at the poor, defensless critter that slows up development and keeps man from encroaching on some obscure mosquito pond someplace, but it was funny. Remember though that the tard blog had me falling out of my chair, and the Terri Shaivo blog, while wrong, still produced a giggle.

So, more rants will ensue, I promise!

  • Copy the above text
  • Paste into your favorite text editor
  • Remove the line breaks and any extra spaces
  • Copy that and paste into the exclusion box in Awstats

I doubt you will be able to contribute via the comments, but give it a go.

A beautiful SoCal day

I actually woke up this morning at an hour that can actually be considered sleeping in (8:30) to what was already a sunny and warm morning. All I can say:

It’s about f’ing time!

I can’t remember the last time we had a truly ‘nice’ day here in SoCal, so I decided it was not going to be wasted.

First up, the MINI needed some seriously cleaning. I did what I could with clay bar, polish and wax, but it still needs machines and the chemical set to look great. Anyway, right in the middle of washing down the MINI, who walks over? Yea, out of nowhere, the lass, who has been in ignore mode for the last 9 months (even after a Christmas CD/Starbucks Gift Card and a happy birthday email). Seems she was fulfilling her public service requirements in warning me about the raging poison oak that is floureshing in the hills above us. She even had the welts and bruising to go with. Of course I exclaimed “oh no! that’s awful” but was thinking ‘hehehe’. Still, it was the highlight of my day.

Filling out the rest of my day was a haircut, a stop at Trader Joes for some freezer stock and wine, then 1 last stop at Smart & Final for more freezer stock, another bottle of wine and corn dogs for the lad.

Then, cleaning up after preparing our newly purchased meat for the freezer, the garbage disposal decided to give up the ghost and come disconnected from the sink. Flooding ensued, but we managed with a pile of towels.

Finally, pizza for dinner, a few Bass Ale’s for me plus I won a game of chess! Overall, a good day.

But damn if I can’t stop thinking about the lass now. Crap.
