Another great bottle of wine

I’ve posted great wine finds before, but not often enough and I keep forgetting the really great ones that I drink.

So, I’m stealing an idea from the lass. I’ll start blogging my wine choices.

Tonights selection: Rodney Strong ’01 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

I’m a big fan of a good pinot noir as my keeper shelf will tell you. This one did not disappoint! Very light without being too fruity or dry. Not too strong either. Meal selection was poor however. This wine would have gone great with a nice grilled chicken breast or steamed salmon. Not so much with Tri-tip. Finish was perfect without being bitter. Picked it up at Trader Joes a few weeks ago for about $15, which makes it that much better!

Definitely worth getting if you fancy a nice pinot. Looking at how much is left in the bottle (about a glass worth that I will probably finish before bed), I’d give it an 7.5 out of 10. Not as good as the ’01 Acacia Carneros Pinot, or the Echelon (both run about $25-$30 a bottle), but really really close.
