Facebook Connect, Part II
Where I get to brag that not only is the Facebook Connect plug-in up and running here 100%, but it is also up and running at Motoringfile.com 100%.
There was one small piece that wasn’t right on the community page. First, the wording was wrong so it seemed like it was friends of the site instead of your friends.
Second, there is a missing fb in the
community.phpfile. Once I figure that out, everything works like it should.
So, come on, click through and login with Facebook. You know you want to!
What do you think?
Watching a little Gary V like I like to do. As usual, it’s one of those things that make you think a little bit differently about the things you do.
Take the 2 minutes. I would be interested in hearing what you think about this. I think it’s brilliant, of course, but I have a tendancy to be a little more open than most of you.
I’ve got more than a few things to get done today. I spent the better part of the week sitting on my hands for the most part and getting nothing done except for a few lackluster workouts.
Well, maybe that is not entirely correct. I did get a few things done this week.
- Got another website customer, and another possible is in the works.
- Created a new business card. Printing them next week.
- Upgraded the iMac to 4GB of RAM. All I can say is holy crap!
- Sent my resume out 5 times
- Gave serious thought towards getting serious about starting my own company
- Made another video to test iMovie ’09. More on this later.
- Made an episode of THCS. I need to order a new mixer bad.
- Spent more time that I care to admit on Facebook
I can tell you about this site, which is cool. It’s a site for an old time Hot Rod guy (like, one of the pioneers of the whole thing) with cool photos and some history. He recently passed away and his family wants to be able to post old articles and photos and all that. Perfect job for WordPress. I’ll let you know when it’s done so you can check it out.
I also have changes coming to this site. I put together some really cool stuff when I was ‘at the job’ and one of them was the coda slider. I’m going to try to incorporate into this site for latest posts, portfolio snippets, video and a contact form on the home page. Watch for that.
Go watch the video. It’s funny. I might post it here, but I forgot to not cuss, so maybe not.
The Stig outed, news from Motoringfile.com and a money back guarantee, all the reasons why the World Famous White Roof Radio is one of the top automotive podcasts in all the land!
Sorry for the delay, I was busy integrating Facebook into Motoringfile and I lost track of time.
Full notes to follow.
Oh, and Gabe didn’t have Ebola. Or Monkey Pox.
You Can’t Find it in a Book
At the gym this morning I had the unfortunate luck to be on a tread mill next to a couple of people that were loud talkers. This is why I really need my headphones! That is for another post.
Among the things they were talking about were diet (not entirely correct, but the guy was doing ok), exercise (not even close, but they were at the gym, so I’ll give them credit) and motivation. From a book.
It’s been my experience that you can’t find motivation in a book. Or a magazine. Or at the gym. That’s not where it’s kept. It’s not something that is stored on a shelf waiting for you to use it when it’s convenient.
In the books and magazines you might find inspiration. And that inspiration could motivate you, maybe. But, good chance it won’t.
Without going too cheerleader on you here, the only place you are going to get motivation is from yourself. It’s a part of the self accountability I keep talking about. You have to want to do something, to fix something, to do something different. Nothing in a book will do that for you.
If what you read or hear helps to motivate you, that’s great! Inspiration is a beautiful thing. But it’s still on your shoulders to make stuff happen! And, honestly, you don’t need a book. You don’t need anything to get motivated other than to want something bad enough that you take action to get it!
For example, I want to weigh in at 220lbs by the time AMVIV rolls around at the end of March. This has been my goal since I turned 40 back in June.
But here is the important part. Did you catch it? I want. Not I read or I heard or someone told me. I want. As it turns out, this is something that I want bad enough that I am motivated to make it happen.
Motivation doesn’t come from a book gang. You gotta want it!
